The first European School in London attracted 73
delegates from over 30 countries, and was held in the historic
surroundings of Sir Christopher Wren's Naval College in Greenwich. There
was a full programme of clinical and scientific activities, but with a
varied social programme which made the most of the beautiful Autumn
weather. The format allowed plenty of interchange between residents both
inside and outside the lecture hall, and many new friendships were
formed. Many felt that the experience renewed their interest in Internal
medicine as a discipline in the face of so much specialisation. We
believe that the links formed this week among potential leaders of
Internal medicine are vital for the future of the speciality. Indeed
this is a key objective of the School and the Federation.
